My quest started with this head, which I snagged up from Monkey Depot for the unbelievable price of $29. I was thrilled because I had seen the Hot Toys heads on other sites at twice the price. In my mind Agent Romanoff was an excellent candidate for a "street clothes" version of the figure as she wears casual attire in the movies more than her Black Widow uniform. I had an extra body lying in the parts box, so uniting head and figure were not a problem, but what was she going to wear.
I found this outfit in the Cotswold Collectibles catalog that comes out about nine or ten times a year. They were advertising it as the outfit that Black Widow wore in THE WINTER SOLDIER, but it is actually the outfit that she wore when she greeted Steve Rogers on board the Shield Helicarrier in the movie, THE AVENGERS. So she never wore it on screen with the hairstyle shown above, but I figure it is close enough, she has to wear the same clothes every once in a while. (right?)
Next on my list of favorite Marvel characters is Phil Coulson, played by Greg Clark. He is just a totally cool character, maybe because he isn't a super hero, but he's still heroic. Anyway, I've got this head coming from OneSixthKit and I am planning to put him into a black pinstripe suit that I also found at a good price on Monkey Depot.
Okay... my next figure will be Steve Rogers. At left is the headsculpt that is going to come out with the new Hot Toys 2 figure set. I have this head on Pre-order from www.onesixthkit.com.
They actually have a couple of other Chris Evan headsculpts, but I wanted this one, so I will be waiting until that set comes out to put together my Steve Rogers/Captain America. However, I already have his outfit coming. I picked this one up from Monkey Depot. This is the outfit that he wore when he met Black Widow on the deck of the Helicarrier in THE AVENGERS. I got a good price on both the head and this outfit, so I will have two AVENGERS for less than the price of one HOT TOY figure set.
