The last part of the Humvee project was to create some modern gas and water cans for the back of the vehicle. I saw some modern gas and water cans being advertised as a pre-order on Cotswolds, but they never seemed to materialize from the manufacturer. I didn't feel like waiting or paying their price and figured I could come up with something fairly close. So I adapted a WWII style can and turned it into a basic mold. They're not exact, but when sitting in a row on the back of the vehicle they look pretty good.
Here is my adapted can master in a mold box with the finished mold and the poured pieces, all sitting on an ad for the cans that never seemed to be anything but a pre-order. The handles are just styrene, so one mold serves for both kinds of cans.
Here my HUMVEE and MRAP make their debut at the June 2018 SSCC meeting.
It is 2020 now and I still have the MRAP to detail. I would like it to have as much detail as my Humvee eventually... and eventually I will get around to it. It needs radios and all sorts of military details, but I have been thinking about other stuff. Below are some of the "supplies" that my troops requested.
