GERMAN OBSERVATION GROUP,
Waffen SS Normandy, 1944
Below are construction files and finished vehicle images that originally appeared in my now defunct project blog. The group as visualized in the initial stages would included a sd.kfz 222 Armored Car, a sd.kfz 250 half-track, a Panzer III observation tank and a Schwimmwagen, plus crews and support troops.
Some of my first pictures were of the 222 in progress. The vehicle was originally a Panzerjuan kit, built by Gary1930 and sold to me before his death a number of years ago. The build was really good, but basic, with literally no details at all. I finally got around to detailing it a while back as the pictures illustrate.

The next set of pictures were an update I did after completing the details on the 222 and building and detailing a 250 kit that I had purchased through Toychest and Collectibles. These pictures were taken at a club meeting prior to painting and I will let my post at the time tell the rest of the story.
About the time that I had reached this stage on the 222 and the 250, I also began working on my Panzer III. I had purchased the Panzer III from Cory Lord about a year or two earlier and had wanted to detail and paint it for quite a while but just hadn't gotten around to it. I learned that the 12th SS Armored Division had two Panzer IIIs in Normandy in 1944 that were used as Observation vehicles and this gave me the motivation to add it to my group
